       SUMMIT PUBLIC RADIO MINUTES

Home of Steve Smith, Frisco,  5:45 PM, 25 June 2007

In Attendance: Sue Greene (presiding),  Gary Peterson, John Roberts, Don Dettmering,  Steve Smith, Renee Stoller, Sally Liu, Roger Paluska, Sue Paluska, Eric Degerberg Marsha Cooper, Terese Keil, Ken Deshaies, and Lindsey Grossman.

Minutes for the last (April, 2007) meeting had been e-mailed to the board and were approved. Sue Greene introduced two new members of the Board: Lindsey Grossman and Eric Degerberg. Sue also congratulated Ken Deshaies on his appointment to the board of CRNC, the corporate owner of KUNC radio.

I. OLD BUSINESS

  A. PICNIC AND HIKE: Will be Saturday Aug 4th at the Dillon site. All members and the public are invited. Freezer space is needed for some of the food and several present volunteered space.

           B. SIGNAL: Jan Stansen will no longer be helping with the publishing of the Signal. We will now have the assistance of Erin Pheil who has kindly agreed to do this job for us. (As of 7/19, the news is that Jan will be able to assist us as usual.)

           C. LISTENER SURVEY: Sue Greene presented some of the results of the recent listener survey. As usual, our most listened-to station is KUNC at 107.1 (Dillon). KVOD is a close second. The average satisfaction with reception is between "neutral"  and "satisfied". Fifteen percent of the 91 responders attended last years picnic and were very satisfied with the picnic and associated events. Thirty-two percent of the responders plan to attend our August 4 picnic this year. The Signal was received by 87% of the responders and all were satisfied with the content.

            D. ENGINEERING: Gary Peterson handed out the monthly report. The Conditional Use Permit application needs an amendment to include  the recent donation of another small shed. Gary and the County will be working on this with monitoring by Rob Waterman.

Applications to the FCC for new licenses will be accepted from 12 to 19 October. In order to protect out frequencies, we probably need our originating stations to file for adjacent frequencies before outside stations gain access to these frequencies which would cause serious interference to our signals. Sue appointed Gary, Steve Smith, and Rob Waterman  to study this area and report by next meeting.
