Ken Deshaies

Ken Deshaies grew up on the Front Range of Colorado and moved to Summit County in 1994.  In the past, he has built custom homes and for 12 years in Denver, owned a private investigations firm.  When he and his wife, Mary, got married, he insisted that part of their vows were that they would keep their sense of humor all their lives.  It’s certainly helped them in their relationship.

Ken and Mary have practiced real estate for their entire time in Summit County, and are broker/owners of SnowHome Properties, where their slogan is “Snow Place Like Home.”  They have always been willing to mentor newer agents to assist in their understanding of the business.  In addition, Ken has written books on real estate, including:

“How to Make Your REALTOR® Get You the Best Deal”, 1999.  The book explains to home buyers how to work best with a Realtor®, why using a buyer agent works to their benefit, and explains the home buying process.  As of January, 2009, 38 additional editions are either in print or in the publishing process, with a Realtor® in each state co-authoring.  The Realtor® co-author in each state is responsible for rewriting the chapter on state laws and having it reviewed and approved by a real estate attorney.

“Get the Best Deal When Selling Your Home”, 2005.  Takes potential home sellers through the process of preparing their  home for sale and explains how to get the best price when selling.  As of January, 2009, 59 additional editions (by market) are in print or in the publishing process.

“Sustainable Housing and Building Green: What Agents Should Know, Consulting Editor, 2008, pub. Dearborn Financial Publishing, Inc.  A course of instruction for real estate agents on energy efficiency, building “green” and alternative energy systems.  Nationally approved by Association of Real Estate License Law Officials (ARELLO).
