Roger and Sue Paluska are among the longest standing members of the Summit Public Radio board. Living full-time in Summit County for the last 13 years, they responded to the first re-organizational meeting of SPR in the fall of 1995. Roger held the position of Treasurer for 5 years. Sue was Secretary for 3 years, and was The Signal editor for 5 years. Before their retirement 15 years ago, Roger and Sue led very active career lives. Roger attended Wabash College and then received his M.B.A. from Indiana University. He worked as a CPA and as a plastic distributor. Sue studied at the University of Detroit and subsequently became a dental hygienist. They settled in Fenton, Michigan and have 3 sons. Kirk is a consulting engineer for Lean Technology. He and his wife and two daughters live in Glastonbury, CT. Tom is an ER physician in Denver and was just married this August. Daniel is a robotics engineer, does robotic art, and is living in Boston. Now, since their kids are grown and they can focus on fun, Roger and Sue enjoy biking, hiking, and traveling. Their latest and one of their most interesting experiences has been a bike trip in Italy and Slovenia. Roger and Sue both include SPR as one of their most rewarding activities. They appreciate all the knowledgeable people who have given greatly of their time and talent. They have learned much about radio transmission technology and would like to see a smooth transmission of the SPR signal throughout the county. They have also maintained a great exercise program by hiking up to take equipment to or from the various SPR sites. And of course, what more beautiful views can one see than from the SPR site on Baldy Mountain! Roger and Sue have enjoyed helping the others on the board who try to work through transmission problems that the mountains create. They both agree that “Volunteering gives back more than one gives!”
